Nokia Lumia 510: Cheapest Windows Phone

Nokia launched its latest budget smartphone in India today, the Lumia 510. The Finnish company knows that not everyone is able to afford a high end smartphone, which is why when they partnered with Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform, they knew there is a market segment that is waiting for an affordable model. That criteria has been met with the launch of the Nokia Lumia 510, an entry-level smartphone which does not burn a hole in your pocket, and yet looks stylish, coming in five different colors – red, yellow, cyan, white and black.
“With the Nokia Lumia 510 we continue to meet our commitment to bring Windows Phone to new, lower price points,” said Mehrotra, Director and Head, Smartphone Devices, Nokia India. “Nokia Lumia 510 is our Diwali gift to the Indian youth, as it has been designed specifically for markets such as India and offers them a fun and personal way to enjoy Windows Phone. People who use Windows Phone have realized how much more intuitive it is than other smartphone platforms and Nokia Lumia is the most complete embodiment of the Windows Phone experience.”

Nokia Lumia 510 Specifications

The device brings a 4-inch, 480×800 pixel screen, an 800MHz Qualcomm processor, a 5-megapixel camera, 256 MB of RAM and 4 GB of storage memory. For even more detailed specifications of the Lumia 510 read Nokia Lumia 510 - Cheapest Windows Phone in India Detailed Specifications

On the software side, it’s powered by Windows Phone 7.5 or Mango with a WP 7.8 update promised for the future. Having said that, bear in mind that this is a Windows Phone 7.5 device, so you know for sure it will not be a handset to use if you want to remain at the cutting edge.

Yes, besides the screen size, this particular Lumia does not have thrilling specifications, but Nokia promises it will be its most affordable Lumia yet.The Nokia Lumia 510 will be priced below 199$ (Rs 11,000) putting it somewhere in between the Asha range and the Nokia Lumia 610 and will be available to buy starting in November in India, China, South America, and Asia.

Verdict

I have to say, I am excited about the Nokia 510 as it has managed to find the price-feature balance. It will offer the best of the Windows Phone OS which is Live Tiles including its famous social integration application People and it is cheap enough to make the phone worth it for the average Indian consumer.

What do you think? Do you think the Lumia 510 will make a dent in the Indian market or will it be a flop? Let us know in the comments.
